Rémi Bourquin lives and works in Paris.

Born in 1961. He entered the National School of Fine Arts in Paris in 1979. He studied painting in the studio of Mr. Pierre CARRON (Member of the Academy of Fine Arts). He graduated in 1984.

In 1986 the Academy of Fine Arts awarded him the scholarship

Casa Velázquez. He then left to work for two years in Madrid, Spain.

His work is recognized internationally. It has already been presented in many art galleries, in France, Belgium, the United States, Japan.

One of his paintings, representing the Elephant Siam, can be seen in the Grande Galerie de l'Evolution of the Natural History Museum in Paris.

He sometimes collaborates with the Maison HERMES in Paris

"Wild animals, slender and muscular, supple, soft and fragile. Sometimes landscapes. People encountered in South-East Asia in their disappearing landscapes. And they too are disappearing.
A whole world that is fading away and that of art as well, at least it seems to me.
I paint in the classic way, on canvases prepared during a long time. By small touches, by successive glazes. By attaching myself to detail, by striving to render this softness, this strength, this fragility, this grandeur of the animal world.
I'm not trying to freeze the moment. Nor to denounce the cruelty of the modern world against nature. Rather to render the life, the passing of time, the silence, our questions, bathed in a halo of nostalgia. "
